The Christian Reformed Church of Sri Lanka (CRC SL) National Diaconate plays a vital role in supporting education through its compassionate initiatives. It provides monthly scholarships to needy school-going children, not only from within the church but also from the wider community, ensuring that financial struggles do not hinder their studies. Additionally, at the start of every year, the Diaconate distributes school stationery packs to Sunday School children in need, equipping them with essential learning materials. These efforts reflect the church’s deep commitment to nurturing young lives, empowering children with education, and extending Christ’s love through practical and meaningful support.
At the Christian Reformed Church in Kadugannawa, a dynamic kids’ club has been formed to support the growth and development of children in the church and surrounding community. The club conducts tuition classes at a small fee, making extra academic help accessible to families who may otherwise struggle to afford it. In addition to academics, the club organizes life skill development programs, teaching children important values and practical abilities that prepare them for future challenges. This holistic approach not only strengthens their education but also shapes character, reflecting the church’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded, responsible, and capable young individuals.
The Caring Hands program at the Christian Reformed Church in Dehiwela is a remarkable initiative that provides lunch for more than 265 children and adults. It is not just a meal service, but a ministry of compassion and care, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to share food and fellowship. Many of those who attend come from underprivileged communities, and this program ensures that they receive a nutritious meal while also experiencing love, dignity, and inclusion. Through Caring Hands, the church demonstrates Christ’s teachings in action, reaching beyond spiritual needs to touch lives in very practical and meaningful ways.
The church stands as a bridge between past and future. We restore sanctuaries, care for pastors’ homes, and preserve every corner with devotion. Each act of building is more than construction—it is a promise, ensuring that generations yet to come will worship, gather, and grow within these lasting spaces.
The “Little Lambs” Montessori operates across three locations, serving as a beacon of hope for families in need. These centers are run with subsidized monthly fees, ensuring that low-income earners in the community can provide their children with access to quality early childhood development. Each Montessori is dedicated to nurturing young minds in a safe, caring, and stimulating environment, focusing on building strong foundations in education, social interaction, and moral values. By easing the financial burden on parents, the church makes early education both accessible and impactful, giving every child, regardless of background, the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

The Brohier Memorial Home was established in 1977, driven by a desire to care for the elderly and made possible through a generous financial grant from the family of Eric Brohier. Built on the Gauder Trust Property, the Home was dedicated specifically to Christian men, as requested by the Brohier family, and has continued to serve this purpose faithfully over the years.
The Home is administered by a committee elected at the Denomination’s Annual Meeting, while a full-time Matron and domestic staff manage daily operations. Residents benefit from special meals and monthly worship services. Ongoing support from individuals and organizations through donations plays a vital role in the Home’s continued operation and its mission to serve elderly Christian men with dignity and care.
The Hoffman House, once generously donated by the Hoffman family, was originally meant to serve as a home for elderly women in need. Although early efforts to create a “Home for Christian Women” fell short, the building remained a symbol of hope. Years later, the St. Nicholaas and Brohier Memorial Homes Trust of Melbourne, Australia, restored this vision by funding a full renovation, reviving the historic structure with care and compassion. Officially handed over to the Church in 2009, the renewed Hoffman House now stands as a testament to generosity and renewal.
The National Diaconate committee of the CRCSL overlooks the home and its administration and has been entrusted with developing a new proposal to fulfill the original mission, whilst actively seeking partnerships with like-minded organizations to ensure continued support and sustainability of this meaningful initiative.
